      Seeing and Supporting Children of Incarcerated Parents

      Please join the Osborne Center for Justice Across Generations to learn how to support children whose parents are involved in the criminal legal system (from arrest through reentry). One in fourteen children have experienced parental incarceration, yet they are largely invisible and do not receive support as a result. Topics discussed will include: --Strategies for creating safe and affirming spaces for families affected by the criminal legal system -Understanding the diverse experiences and needs of children of incarcerated parents and their families -How to support children’s connections to their incarcerated parents and create positive visiting experiences -Concrete action steps to remove current barriers to visiting and support the well-being of children with incarcerated parents -Overview of programs and services available through Osborne’s FamilyWorks Buffalo program. This free training aims to increase awareness and share strategies for supporting children and families affected by incarceration, and is recommended for anyone who works with children and families, or in the criminal justice system.
